AGEINCO and the Xunta de Galicia strengthen their collaboration to position Galicia at the forefront of the engineering sector
During the Tribuna held today in Vigo, the joint commitment to promote territorial planning, sustainability, innovation, and efficiency in key infrastructure was highlighted.
Vigo, September 26, 2025
The Galician Cluster Association of Engineering, Consulting and Technological Services Companies (AGEINCO) held its latest Tribuna today, with the notable participation of Mr. Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, President of the Xunta de Galicia, and Ms. Mª Jesús Lorenzana Somoza, Regional Minister for Economy and Industry.
The event emphasized the strategic role of Galician engineering in the economic, social, and territorial development of Galicia, as well as the technical and innovative capacity of the companies that make up the cluster.
Throughout the day, AGEINCO conveyed to the Xunta de Galicia the need to strengthen active, direct, and effective collaboration between the engineering sector and the various departments of the regional administration. This proposal was welcomed with interest and openness by the Galician Government, which expressed its willingness to move forward in the creation of a joint working space to leverage the knowledge, experience, and innovation of the sector.
A commitment to six strategic pillars
As a result of this dialogue, both parties agreed on the need to work in a coordinated way across six strategic areas where Galician engineering can make a significant difference:
Mobility: Design and improvement of roads, logistic access routes, and ports to boost the competitiveness of the economic fabric.
Innovation: Development of technological solutions applied to industrial processes and strategic sectors.
Ports and coastline: Modernization of port infrastructure and efficient, sustainable management of the land–sea interface.
Energy: Active participation in offshore wind energy, modernization of the electricity grid, and energy transition projects.
Water: Design of sanitation, supply, and treatment systems for sustainable water management.
Sustainability: Implementation of real solutions in circular economy, energy efficiency, and waste management.
AGEINCO also took the opportunity to share the sector’s main concerns, especially regarding administrative agility, public procurement models, and the recognition of local technical knowledge. The Xunta showed a constructive attitude, committing to analyze and work together on measures to align public policies with the real capabilities of Galician engineering.
Galician engineering: a driver of development
The Tribuna saw notable institutional and business participation, reflecting the cross-cutting nature of engineering as a strategic sector. AGEINCO thus reaffirms its role as a driving force for Galicia’s economic development, through an engineering sector committed to quality, sustainability, innovation, and collaboration.
