AGEINCO and the University of A Coruña advance the implementation of their collaboration agreement

Representatives of AGEINCO and the University of A Coruña held a working meeting to define the first actions under their collaboration agreement, which aims to promote external academic internships, enhance student employability, and strengthen cooperation between the university and the Galician business community.

AGEINCO continues to make progress in implementing the collaboration agreement signed with the University of A Coruña (UDC), through which both organisations will work together to connect university talent with Galician companies in engineering, consultancy, innovation, and technology services.

As part of this initiative, Javier Alonso Seoane, President of AGEINCO, and Marta Isabel Gallego Ramos, Secretary General of the Cluster, met with Ricardo José Cao Abad, Rector of the University of A Coruña, and María José Lombardía Cortiña, Vice-Rector for Students and Employability.

The meeting focused on defining the first steps for the effective implementation of the agreement, coordinating upcoming initiatives, and establishing the necessary mechanisms to facilitate the participation of both UDC students and AGEINCO’s member and partner companies.

New Internship Opportunities in Galician Companies

One of the main objectives of the agreement is to promote external academic internships for University of A Coruña students within companies that are members of AGEINCO.

Through this collaboration framework, member and partner companies will be able to communicate their internship needs, specify the academic profiles they require, outline the proposed training activities, and define the conditions under which internships will be carried out.

AGEINCO will act as the coordinating body and central point of contact between the University of A Coruña and companies interested in participating. In this role, the Cluster will identify and coordinate available internship opportunities, facilitate communication with the university, and support the organisation and monitoring of internship placements.

The University of A Coruña, in turn, will serve as the communication channel with its faculties, schools, and academic centres, promoting the opportunities provided by AGEINCO among students and helping to match university talent with the real needs of businesses.

The agreement also provides for regular communication between both organisations to identify companies’ internship needs and opportunities, as well as the appointment of professional mentors responsible for supervising and supporting students throughout their internship period.

Coordination, Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

The collaboration extends beyond the publication of internship opportunities. Both organisations will also work together to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve the programme, ensuring that internships are carried out under appropriate conditions and meet both students’ learning objectives and participating companies’ needs.

Host companies will provide the necessary resources and working conditions for the successful completion of training activities while complying with all applicable regulations concerning occupational health and safety, equality, data protection, and confidentiality.

The agreement also establishes a joint monitoring committee made up of representatives from the University of A Coruña and AGEINCO. This committee will oversee compliance with the commitments undertaken, evaluate the progress of the collaboration, and address any issues that may arise during its implementation.

Collaboration on the Annual Engineering Forum

The agreement also includes cooperation between AGEINCO and the University of A Coruña in the organisation and promotion of the Annual Engineering Forum, as well as other events of interest to the university community.

This line of collaboration will encourage the participation of students, academic and research staff, and university faculties, while also promoting the involvement of AGEINCO member companies in activities related to engineering, innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, energy, and emerging technological challenges.

Building a Stronger Connection Between University and Industry

This meeting marks another important step in consolidating a partnership designed to create meaningful opportunities for education, employability, and knowledge transfer.

AGEINCO will continue working to ensure that its member and partner companies have access to emerging professional talent, can communicate their workforce needs, and contribute to the practical training of university students.

Through this agreement, AGEINCO and the University of A Coruña reaffirm their commitment to employability, innovation, and the development of a stronger and more sustainable connection between higher education and the Galician business community.
